There are eight trim levels to choose from—one of them being a hybrid. Due to that, you may be wondering which configuration is right for your lifestyle near Pensacola, FL, Fort Walton Beach, FL, or Daphne, AL.

The team at Bob Tyler Toyota can help you with this endeavor. We created the following Toyota Corolla trim level review to break down the features offered in each version of this automobile. Read through the information review, then visit us to view these trim levels in person.

2020 Toyota Corolla L

First up in this trim level lineup is the Corolla L. While it’s the base trim, it’s anything but standard.

The vehicle comes with a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine that produces 139 horsepower and 126 lb-ft of torque. Plus, with an EPA-estimated 30 city/38 highway MPG, it’s easy to go far in this automobile.1

There’s lots of room for five people with 88.6 cubic feet of passenger volume. Plus, with 13.1 cubic feet of trunk space as well as a 60/40 split fold-down rear seat, you’ll have plenty of room for groceries, luggage, and other personal belongings.

Combine all these specs with convenient features, such as a tilt/telescopic 3-spoke steering wheel, and you’re sure to enjoy any trip inside the Toyota Corolla.

LE & Hybrid LE

The next trim, the Corolla LE, is the only one that’s also available as a hybrid. The LE comes with the same performance specs as the L trim, which includes a Continuously Variable Transmission with intelligence and Shift Mode.

The Hybrid LE, meanwhile, comes with the 1.8L 4-cylinder and an Electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission. Together, they help the car achieve an EPA-estimated 53 city/52 highway MPG—ensuring you can get to your destination without running out of fuel.2

Like the base trim, these two come with Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.0. This suite of driver-assisting technologies uses cameras and radar to detect if a collision may be imminent. It’ll then send warnings and even step in to act to help prevent you from getting into an accident.

Corolla SE CVT

Then, there’s the 2020 Corolla SE CVT. This is the first trim level to offer a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine. With 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque, it provides an engaging drive along with a smooth ride and stable handling.

Furthermore, this trim has the most efficient performance out of all the non-hybrid options. It has an EPA-estimated 31 city/40 highway MPG to help make driving to work, the store, or a vacation spot easier.3

The SE CVT also comes with an Audio infotainment system that showcases various media options on an 8-inch touchscreen. Smartphone users will especially love the Apple CarPlay® smartphone integration feature. Plug your mobile device into the car’s USB port to access your favorite apps and hear everything clearly through the vehicle’s 6-speaker sound system.

SE Nightshade Edition

The SE Nightshade Edition is similar to the SE CVT with its list of features. However, the biggest difference comes with its exterior appearance.

The car comes with a black sport mesh front grille with black bumper and surround. Add on the black door handles and black outside mirrors, and this sleek and modern-looking vehicle will surely turn heads.

Inside, you’ll find premium sport seats with sport fabric inserts. Not only does it look cool, but the 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat provides all-day comfort behind the wheel.

Corolla SE (6MT)

Next up is the 2020 Corolla SE (6MT). While it offers the same 2.0L engine mentioned before, the transmission is different.

It’s actually the only trim level in the lineup to come equipped with a 6-speed Intelligent Manual Transmission. The close-ratio gears down low are great for a spirited acceleration. The taller gears up top will then help optimize fuel economy to enjoy long cruises around town.

This trim is also the first non-hybrid trim to come with a Smart Key System. With just the push of a button on your key fob, you can lock or unlock the doors and open the trunk as you approach the vehicle.

2020 Corolla XLE

You then have the Toyota Corolla XLE, which is the first trim to come with heated front seats. Both you and your co-pilot can keep warm on even the chilliest of mornings.

Furthermore, this trim comes with an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and a 4-way adjustable front passenger seat. Therefore, you can find your ideal seating position in no time.

The infotainment system gets a bit of an upgrade, too. You now have the Audio Plus system with an All Access trial to SiriusXM® Satellite Radio. This feature provides well over 100 news, comedy, and commercial-free music stations—giving you tons of ways to stay entertained on your daily trips.

Toyota Corolla XSE

The last trim, the XSE, has a truly impressive list of features. For starters, there’s the SofTex®-trimmed seating along with a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The seats have the leather-like feel while being easy to keep clean and look good for a long time.

The available Qi-compatible wireless smartphone charging pad allows you to leave your phone cables at home. Don’t worry, though, as there are two USB ports up front to keep multiple devices charged up.

This trim is also available with a Premium Audio infotainment system. It comes with Dynamic Navigation to help you get from Point A to Point B quickly. With a 9-speaker JBL® with Clari-Fi® sound system, your turn-by-turn directions, music, and phone calls will come through the cabin in crystal-clear sound.
