2021 Toyota Corolla MPG

Toyota CorollaIn its standard configuration, the 2021 Toyota Corolla achieves an EPA-estimated 30 city/38 highway MPG.1 This is with the base L trim, along with others like LE and XSE Apex.

Within those trims, the vehicle is equipped with a 1.8L 4-cylinder or 2.0L 4-cylinder engine and Continuously Variable Transmission or Dynamic-Shift Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). Those transmissions are what greatly contribute to the car’s efficiency.

If you want maximum MPG in the non-hybrid setup, go with the SE trim and its CVT specifically (a 6-speed manual is available in this trim, as well). It’s also equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder and Dynamic-Shift Continuously Variable Transmission. However, this version of the Corolla achieves an EPA-estimated 31 city/40 highway MPG.1

There’s no telling how many excursions you could take inside this Toyota model—no matter which one you get.

2021 Corolla Hybrid

As we mentioned before, the Toyota Corolla is available in a hybrid model. The Hybrid LE trim comes with a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine and Electronically controlled Continuously Variable Transmission (ECVT). With this combination, the vehicle can achieve an EPA-estimated 53 city/52 highway MPG.1

Those ratings may be the highest ever for a Corolla, but that’s not the only impressive thing about the hybrid. It has a Power Mode button that’ll increase the throttle response for a more exhilarating drive. The car’s sporty stance and advanced suspension system contribute to its dreamlike handling, as well.

Furthermore, there are several technology features that let you keep track of your vehicle’s performance. These include a 7-inch Multi-Information Display screen found behind the steering wheel. This is where you’ll find vehicle health info and more, right in a spot that’s convenient for you.

Additional Performance Specs

Toyota CorollaThe 2021 Corolla offers two engines in three variants. Each one has impressive power ratings that include:

  • 1.8L 4-cylinder: 139 horsepower and 126 lb-ft of torque
  • 1.8L 4-cylinder (hybrid): 121 horsepower and 105 lb-ft of torque
  • 2.0L 4-cylinder: 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque

We’ve touched on the CVT offered in this vehicle, but a 6-speed Intelligent Manual Transmission is available, as well. It has close-ratio gears at the bottom for faster acceleration. If you want optimal fuel economy while cruising down the street, select from one of the taller gears at the top.

What are some other offerings for a more athletic ride? The available Sport Mode certainly helps, as do the available mounted paddle shifters. The latter is found behind the steering wheel and puts the control right into your fingertips.
